what kind of writer am I
am I even a writer?
I am definitely
not technical
not gifted in the traditional sense
or always grammatically correct
I have not studied it
so not academically learned
either
I guess I would say 
I write from the heart
writing things that maybe
people aren't supposed to say
out loud
on paper
some say annoying
self-focused
embarrassing even
brave to others
though
writing so others 
don't feel so alone
me either 
I suppose
there is power in
vulnerability
there is strength
in not being the images
portrayed on the outside
there is beauty 
in imperfection
writing then
about being human
it's the only way
I know to write
it's the only way
I know how to be
me
